Following two-plus years of meetings and the acquisition of Wesley Hall, former property of the Wesley Foundation’s campus ministry, construction began for a major renovation of this space at College Avenue United Methodist Church in Muncie, Indiana. The renovation expanded the hall’s functionality, providing a dedicated space for a fellowship area complete with coffee bar; a larger multi-purpose area for worship, recreational and educational outreach programs, receptions, dinners, etc. A remodel and upgrade of the attached kitchen was also completed.
The renovation included:
- increase and update of existing restrooms to meet ADA requirements;
- adding central air conditioning to all renovated areas;
- updated technology, acoustics, lighting, and flooring; and
- replacement of five main entry doors, one of which is an automatic, handicapped-accessible entrance.
A capital campaign drive resulted in pledges making up over 90% of the needed capital for this venture. The IN Loan & Savings Ministry, LLC was able to assist with the remainder of the funds needed to complete Phase I of the four-phase building program.
